Hi I’m Kevin and I’ve been a Bodyworker since 1995.

I began my Karate training in 1984 aged five.  Having suffered with severe asthma from birth with regular time off school and having low confidence, my parents took the advice of a good friend and took me along to a local class.  Given time my health, confidence and physique all improved, this was thanks to the body conditioning from the Karate training.

By the age of 13 the symptoms of my asthma had all but dissappeared and I was ready to take the first dan black belt grading and was passed upon my first attempt.  As my experience has grown I have attended many courses, gradings and tournaments around the country, training under and alongside some of the best Karate-ka in the world.

In the years since becoming a Karate instructor I have widened my knowledge around martial arts, movement and fitness.  I have studied most martial arts and tried out any fitness systems that have been available.  This gave the opportunity to begin mixing training styles and begin assessing what techniques, stances and styles fitted my students best on an individual basis.  It is in in this period that the Bushido Fitness & Self-defense came into being.  BFS is and always will be a work-in-progress as it is ever developing with every new student that comes along.

From years of attending gyms, classes and trying most “fad” fitness aids serveral things have been made clear to me time and time again….

1.  Anything that makes it easier produces less results – there are NO shortcuts!
2.  If  you need something to make it more of a challenge, you probably weren’t doing it right to start with!
3.  Body control and fluid motion cause maximum impact to fitness and lowers the chance of injury.
4.  Posture is the key to everything
5.  We need nothing more than our body and a space on the floor to have an unbelievably intense workout – the Body-worker mantra!

I now concentrate all of my training on the core aspects of Body-working: Martial Arts, Yoga, Pilates and Yogata.  I am always looking to perfect the art of Shotokan and develop interesting, fun and effective training for BFS but am also now working closely with Michael to develop Yogata (a new powerful hybrid art that will become the flagship offering of a true Bodyworker).

I am a fully insured and CRB checked instructor who teaches as I believes it is my duty to pass on what I have learned.
